Comprehensive patient care that focuses on the medical and supportive care of high-risk pregnant moms, as well as fetal surveillance.
Akron Children's Hospital provides Maternal Fetal Services at Aultman Hospital and specializes in the care and treatment of mothers-to-be who are experiencing a high-risk condition as well as the care and treatment of fetuses who are experiencing high-risk issues. Such care may be merited on the basis of a variety of fetal conditions, maternal concerns or obstetric complications such as pre-eclampsia, preterm labor and fetal growth abnormalities. We work with the Level III perinatal center at Aultman Hospital to provide seamless treatment for those with high-risk pregnancies, all under one roof.
Most of our care is through consults requested by community obstetricians in the region and partnerships with your primary obstetricians, as Akron Children's Maternal Fetal Medicine serves as a trusted referral service for high-risk pregnancies with care that benchmarks well against the best in the country.
We provide detailed fetal evaluations, including the detailed ultrasounds and fetal echocardiography for pregnancies that require such evaluation during pregnancy. As needed, Akron Children's Maternal Fetal Medicine provides invasive fetal evaluations including transfusion of fetal blood for the rare fetal anemia to allow them to grow safely on the inside and avert risks of prematurity.
The Aultman ultrasound department is accredited by the American College of Radiology. Akron Children's Maternal Fetal Medicine features a certified Genetic Counselor and physicians certified in their subspecialty. Both physicians have been in practice more than 20 years, while our practice is the only Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist providing care to the region between Akron and Columbus.
